The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for building partnerships with management across the organization to support strategic and operational planning.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: analytics, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, expense and capital management.
This position reports directly to the Controller.
The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Financial Analyst will be as follows:
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and maintain recurring financial and operational reporting including monthly financial reporting packages, variance analysis, and managementdashboards
Assist with underlying analysis in support of the rolling liquidity planner
Prepare and support monthly and quarterly Board reporting packages, including financial commentary and key performance indicators
Prepare and maintain reporting related to sales performance, manufacturing costs, labour, overhead, raw materials purchasing, and freight
Produce SKU, customer, and product profitability analysis using ERP and accounting data
Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing and other departments to develop budgets, analyze performance, and identify opportunities for efficiency
Work closely with department managers throughout the organization to identify potential areas of efficiency and to refine operational budgeting
Assist with financial modelling related to new products, customer opportunities, capital investments, and other strategy initiatives
Provide ad-hoc analytical support for Board of Directors, lenders,
and other stakeholders as required
Support the finance team with month-end and other normal course activities as required
Required experience and skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, or Data Analytics
Previous experience in a manufacturing or consumer packaged goods environment is preferred
Significant experience working with large datasets and data analytics tools
Ability to communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders
Candidates should possess advanced Analytical Skills with experience in data analysis, variance analysis, and financial decision support.
Candidates should possess expertise in Financial Statements and Financial Reporting, including preparation, interpretation, and compliance with relevant standards.
Candidates should possess proficiency with spreadsheet and financial software tools (e.g., Excel, ERP systems), and be comfortable working with large data sets.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; a professional designation (CPA, CMA, CFA) or progress toward one is an asset.
Experience in manufacturing, consumer packaged goods, or food production environments is beneficial.
Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in office.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality and integrity in handling financial information.
