Tuition Reimbursement After One Year of Service The Senior Manager, International Income Tax ("Senior Manager") requires expertise in planning, research, compliance, and accounting for Canadian and international income tax.

The Senior

Manager will work in conjunction with other members of the international income tax team to plan and execute both domestic and international income tax projects. Duties and responsibilities, as they align to Ryan's Key Results

People

Create a positive team member experience.

Develops and motivates engagement staff and provides leadership, counseling and career guidance.

Client

Responds to client inquiries and requests from tax authorities.

Manage tax planning projects for Canadian and international income tax engagements for multinational clients, which includes project planning, project oversight, scheduling staff resources and developing and implementing tax-planning solutions.

Travels to client locations both domestically and internationally, as needed, for planning meetings, data collection, fact gathering, plant tours, client visits and other travel as required.

Works with colleagues in foreign offices and across other tax service lines to develop and implement global solutions for clients.

Prepares memoranda and relevant reports for senior management's review.

Research and write technical documents in response to client requests on specific issues.

Assists in new client development and introduces current services to existing clients.





Work in conjunction with global teams on tax-planning projects for clients across diverse industries, participates in engagements requiring tax analysis for multinational entities and their affiliates, researches and analyzes a wide range of tax issues and develops and communicates proposed solutions.

Value

Drafts proposals, engagement letters as well as presentations to showcase ideas and solutions.

Preparation of and presentation at tax seminars.

Oversees file and research documentation protocol, data collection and organization, utilization of software, management of the process, and final review of results.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Accounting, Economics, Statistics and/or Finance and a minimum of eight to ten years of tax-related experience. In addition, a professional accounting designation (CPA-CGA, -CMA, -CA) is desired. Must have excellent organization and time management skills, strong communication skills, a willingness to learn and be a team player, proven ability to direct and develop staff, strong project management skills, excellent communication skills, strong business development and interpersonal skills.

Other requirements include

Understanding and experience with Canadian tax compliance and accounting for income taxes

Understanding and experience with Canadian tax planning and corporate reorganizations

Experience advising First Nations is considered an asset





Experience with transfer pricing and international tax treaty interpretation is considered an asset

Experience with cross-border withholding taxes and application for waiver is considered an asset

Development of practice management business processes and creation of templates and technology are considered assets

Strong personal integrity

Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments and manage rapidly changing assignments in a team environment

Strong analytical, comprehension and problem-solving skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to master new tasks and industries quickly

Ability to travel on a limited basis

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, CCH Taxprep, Carswell or CCH tax research applications, and Internet navigation and research.

Certificates and Licenses

Valid driver's license required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsibilities include leading project teams, training employees, assigning work, and signing off and approving work for accuracy and completeness.

Work Environment

Standard indoor working environment.

Occasional long periods of sitting while working at computer.

Position requires regular interaction with employees at all levels of the Firm; interface with external vendors, attorneys, and clients also necessary.

Independent travel requirement: ~25%.
