Overview Location: Hybrid – Markham, ON (3-days in office, 2 days remote)Job Type: Full-timeSalary: $70,000–$90,000 per yearHiring a Substation Design Engineer for an associate-level position focused on detailed substation design to join our electrical engineering team. In this role, you will contribute to high-quality electrical layout plans and collaborate with technical teams (project manager, CAD designers) to deliver successful substation projects in conjunction with the client.Responsibilities Design substation layouts including equipment placement, bus configurations, and grounding systemsDevelop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, bill of materials, and supporting documentationPerform equipment sizing, load calculations, grounding studies and specify electrical equipment according to relevant standardsSpecify substation components in accordance with CSA, IEEE, IEC, and other relevant standardsCollaborate with internal design, protection & control, and civil teams to meet scope and deadlinesParticipate in design reviews, QA/QC processes, and ensure design packages are complete and code-compliantSupport field teams during construction or commissioning when neededQualifications Education:



Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or higherLicensing: Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario with flexibility to obtain licensure in other jurisdictions as neededBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related fieldat least 5 years design experience in substation design engineeringProficiency with AutoCAD, ETAP, or equivalent softwareFamiliarities with other tools such as Revit, PLS-CADD, SKM PowerTools, or GIS is assetUnderstanding of protection and control design (wiring, relay panels) is a bonusStrong understanding of CSA, IEEE, and IEC electrical standardsExcellent communication, analytical, and organizational skillsTravel: Willingness to travel 25% across the region.
