Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Within the context of a client and family-centred framework and continuum-based care model and in accordance with established standards of qualified practice and the vision and values of the organization, works in a team-based environment and plays a significant role in ensuring that the overall surgical booking and slating requirements are met. Supervises designated O.R. booking staff, applies critical thinking and uses current knowledge of procedure protocols and computerized systems to schedule and assign the daily procedural bookings. Identifies available booking options, prepares, and edits preliminary operating room slate and completes and distributes final slate to designated areas.
Compiles, maintains, and distributes designated operative statistical information and surgical waitlists, orders office supplies, types and files correspondence.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education &
Experience
Grade 12, medical terminology and four (4) years’ recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Knowledge of medical terminology
Ability to deal with others effectively
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to supervise
Ability to organize work
Ability to operate related equipment The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
