Who we need: The CDI Therapeutic Recreation Programs Program is seeking a Coordinator to join the Connecting Towhee Team for a Contract Part-time position from February 2, 2026 to January 5, 2027. The incumbent will ensure that CDI programs and services align with the organization’s mission, values, policies, and priorities, and are delivered within assigned resources. The Coordinator provides leadership toward service excellence and a quality professional environment, with day-to-day operations of the Therapeutic Recreation Programs focused on Connecting Towhee within the Clinical Services Department. This is a 17.5-hour weekly on-site position with a adaptable schedule, and may require evening hours (4:00 pm – 8:00 pm) as needed. Responsibilities Accepts and works within the framework of CDI’s stated vision, mission, values and goals. Ensure quality, risk management, and safe operations of CDI’s Therapeutic Recreation Programs. Lead planning and implementation of Connecting Towhee under the guidance of the Supervisor. Work in person at the St. Clair Gardens location. Recruit, orient, train, supervise, schedule, and monitor casual and contract staff and volunteers. Coordinate Therapeutic Recreation programs by managing waitlists, facilitating client intakes and assessments, managing group assignments, supporting registration, and arranging program coverage. Facilitate Therapeutic Recreation Groups as required. Maintain knowledge of child development, family functioning, and evidence-supported interventions. Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job (written/verbal/implied).



Establish and maintain positive relationships with families and their support networks. Liaise with internal and external professionals and community services to ensure effective service coordination. Coordinate internal program referrals with CDI staff. Monitor equipment and inventory expenditures with the Supervisor. Participate in program development, quality assurance, evaluation, data collection and research activities. Complete all client and program documentation per agency policies and procedures. Work with the TRP Supervisor to ensure budgets, legislative requirements, and safety standards are met. Participate in relevant program, departmental and agency meetings/committees. Perform other assigned duties in the interests of the agency. Qualifications A Diploma or Degree in Child & Youth Care, Social Work, and/or Therapeutic Recreation from an accredited post-secondary institution. A minimum of three (3) years of experience working with children, youth, families and groups in a therapeutic child & youth mental health setting. Experience with learning disabilities and mental health (LDMH) clients is an asset. Experience delivering therapeutic recreation programs for children and youth in various settings. Adherence to professional and ethical standards including client interaction, scope of practice, documentation, and confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to implement child, youth and family skill-building activities within scope of practice. Ability to identify mental health needs, evaluate changing client needs, and provide effective triage. Knowledge of human development and therapeutic intervention methodologies for children and youth. Maintains confidentiality and security of client-related and agency information. Experience working from an anti-oppressive framework with youth and families. Strong verbal and written communication,



organizational, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment. Team player who can interact effectively with colleagues at all levels. Commitment to continuous learning and staying current on children’s mental health and parenting. High level of computer literacy and knowledge of relevant legislation and compliance requirements. Physical Effort Work is conducted in office and clinical settings, with direct client service as needed. Capacity to lead physical activities in a therapeutic recreation context (e.G., yoga, outdoor activities). Ability to lift up to 45 lbs and perform related physical tasks as required. Daily computer work required. Working Conditions Flexible hours, including evenings, to meet program needs. Occasional travel to other CDI locations and community activities. Frequent contact with employees, families, and community partners. Available by phone during program delivery; rapid-paced environment; moderate to loud noise at times. Frequent physical activity including sitting, standing, walking, and assisting clients and staff during activities. Supervision Reports to the Supervisor of Therapeutic Recreation Programs and consults with the Supervisor before major decisions. Regular supervision is provided by the TRP Supervisor.
