Full time, Temporary (41 hours per week) Journeyperson Cook

Effective August 31, 2026 - June 29, 2027

The salary range for this position can be found in our Non-Instructional Staff Collective Agreement.

The Journeyman Cook provides technical instruction in all areas of food preparation and production, as well as instruction on proper use of food equipment. The Journeyman Cook manages daily operation of the school cafeteria to ensure compliance with the Province’s Food Regulations.

Key Responsibilities
Solid leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with students, staff and school leadership.
Knowledge of large-scale food production, food safety standards, and sanitation practices.
Ability to analyze data, forecast needs, and adapt menus to operational requirements.




Robust Organizational and time-management skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience with inventory management, ordering, and cost-effective cafeteria operations.

Qualifications and Experience
High School Diploma, Journeyman Cook certificate and Alberta Food Safety Certification required
Experience supervising food service operations, preferably in a school or institutional setting
Ability to work with students, teachers, and school leadership staff
Equivalent combinations of training, and experience may be considered
