Urban Legal Recruitment is pleased to partner with our highly regarded client, a leading regional law firm, in the recruitment of an Intellectual Property & Technology Associate to join their Calgary office.

This role is well suited for a lawyer who enjoys a broad, integrated practice, combining intellectual property, technology and corporate commercial work across a wide range of industries and clients.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:
4–8 years of experience in intellectual property, technology, and corporate commercial law within a team-based workplace from a national, regional or reputable boutique.
Experience with drafting, reviewing, and advising on a variety of technical and commercial agreements, including IP licensing agreements, Saas agreements, distribution agreements and master service agreements
Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating joint ownership, development, commercialization, and M&A; agreements across a variety of industries, with clients ranging from SMEs to larger public companies
Demonstrated experience advising on privacy, data protection, cybersecurity, or AI-related matters is considered an asset
Experience working with start-ups,



emerging companies, and larger corporate clients
A strong understanding of the Canadian intellectual property legal framework, including practice and procedure before the Canadian Intellectual Property Office
The ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice
Robust drafting, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Trademark agent designation considered an asset
Membership in positive standing with the Law Society of Alberta
