Our client is a growing law firm, and they have an opening for a Criminal Defense Lawyer. The successful candidate will have a minimum of two (2) years of experience practicing criminal law and will handle a diverse caseload. The role involves managing files at all stages, from intake and bail to trial and sentencing.

Responsibilities
Represent clients in criminal, provincial offences, and HTA matters, including bail hearings, trials, guilty pleas, and sentencing
Appear regularly before the Ontario Court of Justice and, where applicable, the Superior Court of Justice
Conduct legal research and prepare Charter applications, motions, submissions, and trial materials
Draft transparent and persuasive legal documents, including pleadings and written arguments




Negotiate with Crown and Provincial Prosecutors to achieve favorable outcomes for clients
Maintain consistent, professional communication with clients and provide strategic and timely legal advice
Work collaboratively with other counsel and legal support staff

Qualifications
Member in positive standing with the Law Society of Ontario
Minimum two (2) years of experience practicing criminal law
Demonstrated courtroom and trial experience is a must
Strong oral and written advocacy skills
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a busy caseload independently
