Role Description
We are seeking a Junior Litigation Lawyer to join our Toronto-based team. You will have the opportunity to work directly with clients, get experience in Court and have meaningful and challenging work. This is a full-time, hybrid position offering mentorship from Senior Counsel, early responsibility over files and an opportunity to build your own niche and practice within the firm.
This role is ideal for a motivated lawyer looking to build robust litigation skills in a fast-paced criminal defence practice.
Key Responsibilities
Assist Senior Counsel with case preparation and strategy
Conduct legal research and draft high-quality legal materials (pleadings, briefs, correspondence)
Attend court (in-person and virtual) for adjournments, bail matters, sentencings, and other appearances
Manage carriage of assigned files with appropriate supervision
Communicate effectively with clients, Crown counsel, and court staff
Support administrative and file management tasks as required
Occasional travel to our Regina, Saskatchewan office and assist in Court there
Qualifications
Licensed and currently in positive standing with either the Law Society of Ontario or the Law Society of Saskatchewan
Strong legal writing and research skills (kindly have a writing sample available)
Excellent oral advocacy and communication abilities
Ability to manage multiple files and deadlines independently
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Prior criminal law experience is an asset
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal practice software
