Supervisor, Laundry

Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Hotel, motel, resort. Tasks: Arrange for maintenance and repair work. Assist clients/guests with special needs. Be the point of contact when in need to handle emergency situations. Co-ordinate activities with other work units or departments. Monitor quality and production levels. Prepare and submit progress and other reports. Resolve work problems, provide technical advice and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality. Train staff/workers in job duties, safety procedures and company policies. Supervision: 5-10 people. Laundry workers. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Fast-paced environment. Standing for extended periods. Work under pressure. Personal suitability: Flexibility. Support for Indigenous people: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports Indigenous people. Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers . Develops and maintains relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses and organizations . Provides cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers .



Facilitates access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers . Supports for visible minorities: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports members of visible minorities. Applies hiring policies that discourage discrimination against members of visible minorities (for example: anonymizing the hiring process, etc.). Offers mentorship programs that pair members of visible minorities with experienced employees. Provides diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work workplace for members of visible minorities.
