Senior or Manager, Financial Restructuring (Atlantic Canada - Halifax or Dieppe)
Location: Halifax or Dieppe, Atlantic Canada.
The opportunity
Our global network of Financial Restructuring professionals helps clients develop financial and operational strategies to improve liquidity, credit availability, and shareholder return. The team is fully integrated within the Strategy and Execution practice, working closely with clients to understand both short‑ and long‑term goals, identify problems, and recommend and implement solutions that deliver measurable results.
Your key responsibilities
As a Senior or Manager, you will be part of a restructuring team that assists clients in evaluating capital options, capturing greater transaction value, and achieving strategic objectives – whether it involves buying or selling a distressed asset, restructuring a business, addressing underperformance, or improving cash management. You will support the planning and execution of engagements, performing in‑depth analysis of debtor financials and identifying strategies for various issues.
Analyze historical financial results and projections.
Model three‑way financial and cash‑flow forecasts.
Contribute to report writing.
Interact with client staff, bankers, and legal counsel to obtain information, report findings, and provide instructions.
Deal with creditors and other stakeholders.
Participate in acquisitions, divestitures, or merger assignments.
Synthesize research information for modeling, competitive analysis, industry analysis, and negotiation support.
Prepare and deliver presentations to clients.
Assist with pursuits and proposal development; support practice‑development initiatives.
To qualify for the role you must have
Senior:
CPA certification with 2–4 years of experience in a professional services firm or similar business environment.
Willingness to enroll in the Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional Qualification Program.
Manager:
CPA certification with a minimum of 3 years post‑qualification experience in a professional services firm or similar business environment.
Completion of, or demonstrated progression through, the Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional Qualification Program.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or a related major.
Problem‑solving, situational analysis, creativity, negotiation, and decision‑making skills.
High technical competence in financial statement analysis.
Advanced financial modeling knowledge and ability to prepare short‑term cash‑flow projections.
Excellent written communication skills.
Ability to present clearly, concisely, and confidently to clients and other audiences.
Effective time‑management skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
Strong interest in building a business network and participating in business‑development activities with colleagues.
Ideally, you’ll also be willing to
Sit for the oral board examination to qualify as a Licensed Insolvency Trustee.
Embrace uncertainty and a fluid nature of work with a proactive, creative attitude.
Work autonomously or with a team on multiple simultaneous projects.
