The Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for maintaining mission‑critical mechanical infrastructure—including diesel generators, cooling systems, pumps, and auxiliary equipment—to support continuous data‑centre uptime at IREN’s facilities in British Columbia.

This role requires hands‑on troubleshooting, preventive and corrective maintenance, and collaboration with electrical, operations, and engineering teams.

Qualifications

Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician

Experience maintaining locomotive engines, power generation equipment, mining equipment, industrial power systems, or heavy mobile equipment

Experience maintaining diesel generators or large‑scale mechanical infrastructure

Experience working with and upholding WorkSafeBC and occupational health and safety regulations

Safety tickets, such as AWP, fall arrest, or confined space, are considered assets

Valid Class 5 driver’s license

Ability to pass a criminal record check





Experience with computerized maintenance management systems is considered an asset

Preferred Experience

CAT, MTU, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, and Baudouin Engines

Standby power systems and power generation equipment

Data centre or mission‑critical infrastructure

Mining, forestry, marine, or other heavy industrial equipment

SCADA and monitoring systems

Computerized maintenance management systems

Responsibilities

Follow and promote company safety policies, including energy isolation and lockout/tagout procedures

Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems, including diesel generators, exhaust fans, pumps, and associated equipment

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on critical mechanical infrastructure to support system performance and uptime
