CBCL Limited is a dynamic engineering and environmental consulting firm. We are offering an early‑career Structural Bridge Engineer in Training position in either Halifax, Nova Scotia, or Fredericton, Current Brunswick. The role is designed for engineers eager to develop technical expertise and advance their knowledge in bridge design, analysis, and construction.

Responsibilities

Support Design Work: Assist with the analysis and design of recent bridge and structural projects under the guidance of senior engineers.

Contribute to Evaluations: Support structural evaluations and condition assessments of existing bridges and related infrastructure.

Gain Field Experience: Participate in site visits and inspections to collect data, observe existing conditions, and support construction‑phase services.

Prepare Technical Deliverables: Assist with technical reports, design calculations, drawings, specifications, and estimates of probable cost.

Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work closely with in‑house disciplines, including geotechnical, highway, civil, water resources, coastal, environmental, cost estimation, climate change, mechanical, and electrical teams.

Innovate: Work with teammates to develop bespoke designs, new tools and efficient workflows utilizing computer programming, AI and advanced analysis software.

Build Technical Skills: Learn and apply current design codes, standards, software, and internal quality processes while contributing to high‑quality project delivery.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required, with registration or eligibility for registration as an Engineer‑in‑Training with a provincial Engineering Association.

Up to four years of relevant structural engineering experience, including exposure to bridge engineering, structural design, inspection, or construction, is considered an asset.

Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and an interest in designing and constructability of bridges,



and current design codes such as CHBDC (CAN/CSA S6).

Analytical mindset with the ability to solve technical problems thoughtfully, apply engineering judgment, and seek guidance when needed.

Collaborative communicator with robust communication skills for working with engineers, technologists, drafting personnel, and multidisciplinary project teams.

Organized and detail‑oriented, capable of managing tasks, maintaining attention to detail, and contributing to project schedules and deliverables.

Motivated learner, eager to grow technical expertise through project work, mentorship, and ongoing professional development.
