Safety Manager
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Location: 100 Forester Street, North Vancouver, British Columbia
Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: 100k-120k
Travel: 20 %
ERCO Worldwide is looking for a Safety Manager to join the North Vancouver team. The primary functions are ensuring site OH&S; and security practices meet or exceed corporate and regulatory procedures and policies, coordinating site regulatory training, maintaining regulatory records for safety and security, overseeing Responsible Care Safety and Security activities, monitoring process safety, and reporting to plant management.
The Role
Ensure site compliance to all government regulated requirements
Implement company-wide policies and procedures that apply to the site
Develop, maintain, and implement site plans, policies, procedures, and support continuous improvement of these internal standards
Develop, maintain, and implement site training programs, ensuring site employees, contractors and visitors are trained as required, including emergency response activities
Lead all regulatory reporting and documentation requirements both external and internal
Keep site leadership team and Toronto head office up to date on site issues
Ensure compliance to CIAC requirements
Promote a positive safety culture through good practices and reporting hazards using our reporting application
Coordinate completion of associated tasks delegated to site employees
Participate as member of site Joint Health and Safety Committee and ERCO Safety Committee, acting as liaison to the Plant Manager
Lead and support incident investigations, analyze incidents to identify areas of concern, prepare incident reports when appropriate
Trend and analyze site performance for KPIs required throughout the year
Liaise with government, community and emergency responders as required
Integrate company-wide annual safety plan with site safety plan
Follow up on assigned actions in a timely manner
The Person
University degree – academic technical (preferred) or equivalent OH&S; technical training/experience
Recognized CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation or enrollment in a recognized safety program leading to it
Minimum 3 years’ experience working in an industrial/manufacturing environment (sodium chlorate industry preferred)
Excellent understanding and hands‑on experience with industrial safety practices: lock out, confined space, safety inspections, hazard assessments
Strong communication skills, verbal and written, to convey information appropriately to all levels of the organization
