Job Summary:
The Team Member, Facilities/Industrial Cleaner is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of all common areas within the Alpine facility located in Pemberton, BC. Reporting to the Director, Facility Maintenance, this role supports the overall facility operations by performing routine and deep cleaning tasks, managing supplies and inventory, and ensuring all areas meet operational, safety, GMP standards/GACP standards, regulatory and organizational standards. The Team Member, Facilities/Industrial Cleaner performs a wide range of cleaning activities, including general sanitation, equipment cleaning, and laundry operations, while carefully working around sensitive equipment. This role supports routine inspections, collaborations with internal teams and contractors, and contributes to maintaining a safe, hygienic, and efficient work environment.
Major Responsibilities / Duties:
- Perform general, routine, and deep cleaning of common areas including production hallways.
- Sweep, mop, scrub, wash, and sanitize floors, walls, tables, equipment, and other surfaces using appropriate cleaning methods and materials.
- Ensure all daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules are completed in a timely manner.
- Sanitize facility to meet operational, hygiene, GMP/GACP standards, and regulatory standards.
- Dry dust light fixtures and maintain cleanliness of overhead and hard-to-reach areas.
- Collect, wash, dry, sort, hang, and distribute gowns, uniforms, and other production-related laundry items.
- Operate industrial washers and dryers in accordance with operational procedures.
- Operate automated floor scrubber.
- Maintain and monitor inventory levels of gowns, uniforms, mats, cleaning supplies, and PPE.
- Stock cleaning materials, chemicals, and consumables in designated areas to ensure operational readiness.
- Maintain clean, organized storage areas for cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Clean and vacuum floor mats and maintain equipment storage areas.
- Conduct routine checks and elevate repair, replacement, or restocking needs.
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper handling of chemicals in accordance with WHMIS and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Adhere to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Health Canada’s Cannabis Act regulations, ISO standards, and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requirements.
- Perform routine inspections of facility areas to ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or sanitation concerns.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions and participate in corrective actions.
- Work collaboratively with maintenance teams, production teams, and external cleaning contractors to support facility operations.
- Support operational readiness by ensuring all areas are clean, stocked, and maintained for daily use.
- Assist with heavy-duty cleaning tasks and special facility projects as assigned.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to cleaning activities, inventory, inspections, and project completion.
- Ensure proper documentation of completed tasks in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Escalate operational, quality, or maintenance concerns to the Director, Facility Management. Complete required documentation accurately, as directed, and in compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of safe handling of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and sanitation procedures.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor scrubbers, and wet/dry vacuums safely and effectively.
- Adherence to Health and Safety standards for both themselves and those around them.
- Adhere to the company code of conduct and all applicable SOPs.
- Strong organization, time management and prioritization skills.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization.
- Must be able to perform tasks independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Good communication skills both verbal and written.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of Labourer experience is preferred.
- Previous experience in industrial, commercial, or facility cleaning is an asset.
- Previous experience working in regulated environments (e.g., food production, pharmaceutical, or cannabis industries) is an asset.
Working Conditions:
- Most/all working hours will be spent in the production setting.
- Full PPE is to be worn at all times during working hours. Includes booties, coveralls, gloves, hairnet, glasses and surgical mask, certain duties also require use of half face respirator.
- Physical effort is required, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 30 lbs.
- Temperatures range from 16 degrees Celsius to 30 degrees Celsius.
- The role requires frequent walking, standing, and site inspections within operational areas, which may include climbing stairs.
- This position involves significant exposure to cannabis/plant materials, and it is therefore not likely suitable for an employee that may suffer from allergies to cannabis/plant pollen material, or experience other medical issues, such as asthma and hay fever, as a result of cannabis/plant material exposure.
This role is in one of Aurora’s Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certified plants and works directly with products. Towards the end of the recruitment process, we require that you undergo a medical screening exam with our third-party vendor.
