Technical Advisor – Mine Maintenance (Job ID 15382)

Overview The Technical Advisor – Mine Maintenance plays a pivotal role in supporting the execution, optimization, and continuous improvement of the mine’s mobile maintenance programs. The role serves as a subject‑matter expert across key technical domains, guiding troubleshooting, enhancing reliability, and building long‑term asset strategies. In addition to field support, the advisor actively contributes to the Planning & Component Replacement (PCR) program, identifying BOMs, developing standard jobs, and supporting asset master data integrity within the CMMS.
Responsibilities Support the PCR program by developing and validating Bills of Materials (BOMs) and job scopes in collaboration with planners and supply chain. Develop and maintain Standard Jobs within the CMMS (Oracle eAM), ensuring accurate sequencing, labour estimates, and tooling requirements. Maintain asset configuration data and ensure alignment with OEM standards and field practices.
Contribute to the development of maintenance procedures, HSE risk registers,
and associated risk mitigation plans. Provide advanced technical support by leading diagnostics and troubleshooting of complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic failures. Support frontline teams during critical breakdowns and act as a liaison with OEMs and vendors for complex or recurring issues.
Validate repair quality through inspections, functional testing, and post‑repair verification. Collaborate with supervisors, planners, and execution teams to align on work scope, support major jobs, and contribute to commissioning activities. Perform root cause analysis on failures, identify trends, and implement corrective actions to improve asset reliability.
Support reliability strategies by contributing to condition monitoring, component life tracking, and optimization of preventive maintenance programs.
Key Skills & Knowledge Red Seal Certified Heavy Equipment Technician or equivalent. Additional certification in diagnostics, hydraulics, electrical systems, or reliability is an asset. Minimum 10 years of progressive mobile maintenance experience, with at least 3 years in a senior technician or technical support role.
Experience working with CAT, Komatsu, Epiroc, or similar OEM fleets in open‑pit environments.
Previous involvement in planning, PCR programs, or CMMS optimization is a strong asset.
Skills & Strengths We Value Advanced ability to interpret blueprints/schematics and diagnose complex issues across hydraulics, engines, electronics, and mobile equipment controls. Strong proficiency in CMMS (Oracle eAM preferred) and development of job plans, BOMs, and work packages.
Experience with RCA, FMEA, and maintenance strategy development, with a continuous improvement mindset. Clear communicator and mentor, able to influence cross‑functional teams, lead in the field, and effectively manage competing priorities in dynamic environments.
