Become a vital part of IWK Health as a Mi'kmaq Indigenous Health Consultant in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In this permanent full time role, you will advance culturally safe health services for Indigenous peoples.
This position, within the Equity and Belonging Team, requires a designated candidate from the Mi’kmaw group. You will provide expertise and guidance to improve health equity for Mi'kmaw and Indigenous communities across Nova Scotia. Key responsibilities include building relationships with health leaders, engaging with communities, and implementing initiatives aligned with IWK Health’s strategic commitments.
Key Responsibilities:
• Advise on culturally appropriate health initiatives for Indigenous populations
• Build relationships with Mi'kmaw community leaders and health practitioners
• Engage communities to understand health priorities and needs
• Collaborate on EDIRA initiatives within the health sector
• Evaluate programs to improve access and health outcomes
Requirements:
• Undergraduate degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
• Five years of health-related experience or Master's degree with three years experience
• Knowledge of Indigenous peoples in the Maritimes
• Strong writing and project management skills
• Ability to travel across Nova Scotia as required
