Job Title: Manufacturing Process Engineer

Job Description This role focuses on improving manufacturing processes to enhance cost, time, and quality performance within a machining and assembly environment. The Manufacturing Process Engineer develops and optimizes processes, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborates closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable production. The position involves hands‑on work on the shop floor, detailed documentation, and active participation in root cause analysis and corrective action activities. Responsibilities

Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects with a focus on reducing cost, improving cycle times, and enhancing product quality. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) to investigate production issues and implement effective corrective and preventive actions. Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities and support the planning and implementation of corrective actions for nonconforming material. Develop, author, edit, and review detailed work instructions for machining, assembly, repair, and overhaul processes to ensure clarity, accuracy, and usability. Identify opportunities for process and documentation improvements and ensure that documented procedures align with actual plant operations. Perform time studies and analyze production data to identify inefficiencies, improve cycle times, and optimize overall process performance. Train employees on new or updated processes, procedures, and documentation, ensuring consistent understanding and adherence on the shop floor. Assist in the design and implementation of new manufacturing processes, tooling, and plant layouts to support production growth and efficiency. Develop detailed tool drawings utilizing geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T;) to support machining and assembly operations. Collaborate with internal teams, including Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Product Design, IT, and Operations, to improve systems, workflows, and process integration. Work closely with CNC programmers and external vendors, such as machine and tooling suppliers, to introduce new technologies and process improvements. Implement and support safety and security enhancements within the manufacturing environment while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. Manage and contribute to projects that support plant expansion, new product introduction, and continuous improvement initiatives. Support process management activities related to machining, including fixture design, gauge design, and optimization of milling and turning operations.

Essential Skills 3–5 years of experience working as a manufacturing or process engineer in a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of machining processes, including how milling and turning operations work in a production setting.



Experience with CNC machining and close collaboration with CNC programming teams. Knowledge of process management, including cycle time analysis and optimization. Experience developing detailed tool drawings utilizing geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T;). Proven experience in process improvement, including continuous improvement and lean manufacturing methodologies. Hands‑on experience conducting time studies and analyzing production data to drive process enhancements. Experience with SolidWorks or Inventor for plant layouts and manufacturing‑related design work. Demonstrated ability to manage projects within a manufacturing environment. Experience with root cause analysis (RCA) and participation in Material Review Board (MRB) activities. Ability to develop and maintain explicit, accurate work instructions for machining, assembly, repair, and overhaul processes. Strong collaboration skills with cross‑functional teams such as Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Product Design, IT, and Operations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications Knowledge of lean manufacturing and six sigma methodologies; green belt‑level experience or equivalent exposure is beneficial. Experience in the defense industry or with products supporting military or law enforcement applications is an asset. Programming knowledge related to machining (e.g., for milling and turning machines) is considered an advantage. Experience improving cycle times in a high‑precision manufacturing environment. Exposure to fixture design and gauge design to support machining and inspection processes. Comfort working with external vendors, including machine and tooling suppliers, to introduce new technologies and capabilities. Interest in working in a growing organization with expanding manufacturing operations and new defense programs.

Work Environment This role is based fully on site in a manufacturing facility located in Kitchener. The Manufacturing Process Engineer works closely with the Manufacturing and Process Engineering team and collaborates directly with CNC programmers on the shop floor. The facility is undergoing plant expansion, providing exposure to new equipment, layouts, and process implementations as operations grow. The work setting emphasizes safety, security, and adherence to regulatory requirements while supporting advanced manufacturing technologies and continuous improvement initiatives. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Kitchener, ON.
