Articling Studentposition offers a unique experiencebyproviding hands-on exposure toprofessional governance,regulatorydecision-making, investigations, and discipline processes,while developinga strong foundationin administrative law principles, procedural fairness, and statutory interpretation.

Students have gone on to a variety of positions after articling, including positions withregulatory bodies, government,and in private practice. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING Analyzingand advisingonissues related to the Professional Governance Act .

Conducting legal research into policy, privacy, and governance issues and preparing legal memoranda, changes to our bylaws,presentationsand reports.

Assistingwith the investigation and discipline of registrants of Engineers and

GeoscientistsBC,participatingin the drafting and negotiation of Consent Orders,assistingwith disciplinary hearings, compliance with discipline orders, and privacy matters.

Assistingwith files related to unauthorized practice and misuse of title by non-registrants and any associated court applications.

Assistingwith occasional issues concerning external organizations such as the Ombudsperson, the Human Rights

Tribunaland the courts.

The principal for the articling student will be the Manager, Legal Counsel

Policy,howeverthe student will have broad tasks that support the entireorganization.





During the articling period, the Articling Student will be given training in ethics, practice management and lawyering skills (including research, writing, drafting, advocacy, negotiation and/or mediation, interviewing, and problem solving) as required by the Law Society of British Columbias articling skills and practice checklist.

It is expected that the Articling Student will be exposed toa number ofdifferent practice areasincludingadministrative law,contractlaw,and privacy law.

Opportunities in other areas, such as civil litigation, may also arise. WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE The successful candidate will have an undergraduate law degree with excellent grades and immediate eligibility for enrollment in the articling program of the Law Society of British Columbia.

This role offers a competitive compensation and perks program including a salary of $65,500 annuallyandpayment for the

Law Societyof BCs bar admission program.





For this position starting in September 2027, we expect students to have completed the June 2027 Accelerated PREP session.

For contract employees on a short-term contract, we offer: 8%additionalpay in lieu of benefits. 10 vacation days per annum (pro-rated based on the length of contract). A flex day program offeringadditionalpaid days off (usually alternating Fridays)as a result ofa compressed work week. A hybrid work model with an assigned schedule confirming days workedremotelyand days worked in-office.

This role will berequiredto work in-officea minimum of 2 days per week during regular business operations.

The required tools, equipment, and technology for employees to work remotely are provided.
