Company Description Collingwood Animal Referral and Emergency Centre is an independently owned, brand-new emergency and referral hospital opening in June 2025 in Collingwood, Ontario. Founded by board-certified veterinary surgeon Dr. Seanna Swayne, DVM DACVS-SA, the hospital is dedicated to providing high-quality, affordable referral and emergency care. The centre aims to serve an under-serviced population in Ontario, offering advanced veterinary services in a modern, well-equipped facility. Team members will join a growing practice focused on patient-centered care, collaboration, and community impact.
Role Description The Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) is a full-time, on-site role based in Collingwood, ON. Day-to-day responsibilities include providing direct patient care, assisting veterinarians with examinations, treatments, surgeries, and emergency procedures, and monitoring patients before, during, and after anesthesia. The RVT will perform diagnostic tests, administer medications, maintain accurate medical records, and ensure a clean, safe, and well-organized clinical environment. This role also involves communicating with clients about their pets’ care plans, post-operative instructions,
and preventive health measures, while supporting a collaborative, supportive veterinary team.
Qualifications
Robust skills in Animal Care and Pet Care, including handling, monitoring, and comforting patients in emergency and referral settings.
Proficiency in Veterinary Technology, including use of diagnostic equipment, laboratory procedures, and medical record systems.
Experience with Anesthesiology, including patient assessment, anesthesia induction and monitoring, and post-anesthetic recovery.
Ability to provide clear, compassionate Client Education regarding treatment plans, home care, and preventive health.
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) designation in Ontario, or eligibility for registration.
Previous experience in emergency or specialty practice is an asset, but motivated new graduates are welcome to apply.
Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to stay calm and organized in a fast-paced environment.
Comfort with evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as required in an emergency and referral hospital.
