Position Overview About the Role
We are currently seeking ahighly skilled and knowledgeable Senior or Intermediate LNG Process Engineer to join our dynamic team at Solaris. As an integral member of the team, you will play a critical role in ensuring safe and efficient engineering designs and / or operations of liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities. You will have an opportunity to leverage your expertise to ensure the project development and execution of LNG projects while incorporating local and international safety standards and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to manage and facilitate the design of LNG facilities
Serve effectively in client facing roles, communicating technical information clearly and professionally
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for LNG operations
Lead efforts to improve operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and environmental sustainability of LNG processes and engineering design
Participate in development and execution of risk management strategies to mitigate accidents and incidents
Perform technical evaluations and develop design specifications for LNG facility areas, including gas pre-treatment, liquefaction, utilities, import and export terminals, storage, transportation, and distribution systems
Perform detailed process design calculations and activities, such as mass and energy balances, equipment and line sizing, hydraulic modelling, relief system designs,
material selections, plot plan development inputs, safety system design, and plant area classifications
Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs;), equipment and / or instrument data sheets and lists, process control narratives, and shut down keys
Perform process simulations on various software (i.e., Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, UniSim, ProMAX, Pipeflo, KORF, etc.), as required
Prepare conceptual project designs, reports, and proposals for process systems and equipment
Check and review the design and calculation on vendor supplied equipment to ensure compliance with specifications
Check and review calculations and process deliverables prepared by other engineers
Participate in risk safety analysis studies (PHA, HAZOP, QRA LOPA)
Provide technical guidance and support to junior and intermediate staff members to support their professional development
Interface with cross functional teams and clients to achieve shared success
Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering
Working toward or eligible for registration as a P.Eng. in Canada or PE in the United States is considered an asset but not required.
7-10 years of direct and/or relevant experience in LNG engineering, design, and operations, demonstrating a strong understanding of LNG processing, handling, and safety protocols.
Extensive knowledge of the LNG industry regulations, standards, and best practices, including knowledge of LNG OEM licensor technologies (i.e., APCI, ConocoPhillips, etc.)
Proven track record of completing engineering design (i.e., pre-FEED, FEED, detailed engineering, construction support), optimizing LNG facilities, and enhancing operational efficiency
Strong analytical mindset, adept at data-driven decision-making and problem solving
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to interact effectively across teams
Proficiency in using software tools for data analysis, process simulation & optimization,
and project management
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to complete assigned tasks and solve problems based on guidelines and procedures
Open to future re-location, project secondment, travel to United States or internationally, as required

Compensation
The salary for this role is based on an average of 37.5 hours a week. The estimated range is between $130,000 and $170,000 annually, depending on skills and experience.
