What You''ll Do Reporting to the
Site Supervisor, the role of Journeyperson
Electricianis toperform maintenance, upgrading and installation of equipment in 13.8kV to500 kV substations.
Under this role the
Journeyperson
Electricianreads and interprets drawings,blueprintsand electrical code specifications.
The Journeyperson
Electrician is also responsible for planning layout and illustration of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures based on specifications.
The Journeyperson
Electrician inspects electrical systems,componentsand equipment toidentifydefects and to ensure compliance with codes.
This is a senior role which requires performance evaluation, coachingmentoringand training of Electrician Apprentices.
Key Responsibilities The responsibilities include, but may not be limited to: Installation, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenanceof different electrical systems, faulty equipment and apparatusincluding transformers, circuit breakers,switches, switchgears,instrument transformers,relaysand other related equipment(500kV,240kV, 144kV, 69kV, 25kV, 13.8kV).
Installation of structural steel, installation of buried utilities.
Operation of construction equipment such as skid steer, mini hoe, manlifts, andzoom booms.
Comply with
Rising Edge Technologies Ltd.s Health and Safety Manual and industry safety regulations.
Provide leadership, supervision,mentoringand training to Electrical Apprentices inunderstanding,identifyingand resolvingtechnical issues.
Assist Electrician Apprentices with theday to dayactivities involved with substation constructionincluding working in a safe and quality manner.
Responsible for Inspection and testing of high voltage electrical equipment installed in a substation.
Ensure test and maintenance reports aremaintainedandcompleted at all times Lead installation andfacilitateplanning of ground grids, assembly of power system equipment,cablingand wiring Perform andfacilitatesubstation equipment maintenanceaccording to company and industry standards Adhere to Rising Edge Technologies Ltd.s safety policies and safe work procedures and be familiar with the potential hazards of working near energized equipment.
Additional Information This position isdesignatedas safety-sensitive making employment contingent upon the successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, as well as criminal and general background checks.
Schedule Schedule rotations range from 4 days on / 3 days off, 8 days on / 6 days off, 10 days on / 4 days off,21 days on / 7 days off, etc. (project dependant) Overtime paid at time and a half after 10 hours per day and 40 hours per week Out-of-town work includes either all-inclusive camp accommodations or LOA and individual accommodations (project dependent) Requirements What We''re Looking For Validand recognized Journeyperson
Electrician Certificate Minimum of 5 years of work experience asaPSE/Electrician with at least2 yearsofexperienceworking insubstationsrequired Thorough knowledge of the Electrical Utility Code (E.U.C Safety Codes Act) and Occupational Health and Safety rules as theyrelate to the
Electrician role Have a valid Provincial Class 5 drivers license with an acceptable driving record Experience with Microsoft Windows, Office andcomputer-basedtest equipmentwould be an asset Must meet pre-access Drug & Alcohol testing requirements Must be able to work comfortably at heights Ability and willingness to work out of town Able to travel including travelling to remote sites.
Able to work in adverse weather conditions.

Demonstrate problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to work within strict deadlines.
