Job Description:There is an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate Software Engineer to join Onni Capital in Vancouver.Onni Capital is a new investment and company building platform within the Onni Group. You will build and ship production software across the stack with semi independent ownership, taking well scoped problems from design through deployment. The products you work on run real parts of the business and are used by real operators, tenants, and internal teams, not by a hypothetical future user. and wants to help build something from the ground up.What You Will DoBuild and ship production features across the stack with semi independent ownership, taking well scoped problems from design through deploymentWrite production code that holds up to senior engineering review, and contribute to code reviews of your peersContribute to code architecture, API design, and testing practices within established team standardsTake validated prototypes from the venture studio team and harden them into production systemsWork within existing CI and CD pipelines, container orchestration, and cloud deployment infrastructure, and contribute improvements as neededHelp maintain environment management across development, staging, and production, and respond to monitoring and alerting for deployed servicesImplement application security features, including credential handling, secrets management, audit logging, and access controls, following established team standardsHandle sensitive financial and tenant information responsibly, in line with company data protection standardsParticipate in incident response when things go wrong, following established proceduresBuild integrations between internal systems and external APIs and third party servicesWork cross functionally with non technical stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutionsDocument architecture, decisions, and operating standards so successful approaches can be repeated across the teamContribute to internal product reviews, demonstrations, and Onni Capital eventsWhat You BringStrong proficiency in the modern TypeScript and React ecosystem, including Next.js, TypeScript, React, REST APIs, and relational databases. Bonus points for experience with Supabase and PostgresComfortable in Python for backend services and AI and agent tooling, using FastAPI or similarSolid backend systems design and API development experienceHands on experience with DevOps practices, including CI and CD pipelines, Docker, and containerisationRegularly uses AI assisted development tools, specifically Claude Code, as a core part of your workflow, with the judgment to know when to trust output versus verify itPractical experience integrating LLMs into production applications via provider APIs such as Anthropic, OpenAI, or OpenRouter, including prompt engineering, context management, streaming responses, tool and function calling, structured output, and evaluating output qualityFoundational understanding of application security, including authentication, authorisation, secrets management, and audit loggingAbility to work semi independently.
