Unit Summary The Surgical Team at the Juravinski Hospital provides peri-operative care to a critical and acute adult patient population.

In this exciting and dynamic environment our team supports tertiary and regional programs providing both inpatient and same day surgery and is the host hospital for the Regional Cancer Centre.

Position Summary The Registered Practical Nurse in the Same Day Surgery Unit and Outpatient Surgery participates in providing Peri-operative care for adult patients in accordance with the job description and competencies for registered practical nurses.

Schedule Work Hours days, evenings This position is temporary until August 2027 Qualifications 1.

Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse 2.

Current certificates or current community college studies in asepsis, wound care, airway management, complex wound care, patient assessment, urinary catheterization, administering enteral feeds, medication administration, IV skills including access, management and administration, transcribing physician orders 3.

Current Heart and Stroke Foundation CPR course Diploma or equivalent 4.

Current Medication Administration and Asepsis certificates 5.

Recent experience (2 years) adult surgical skills 6.

Completion of a nursing physical assessment course with certificate 7.

Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, high turnover workplace 8.

Evidence of commitment to professional practice 9.

Demonstrates interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills 10.

Demonstrates critical thinking and decision making in assessment and problem identification 11.

Demonstrated excellent communication and organizational skill 12.
