Claim intake & validation Reviewing and researching reported claims to determine their validity
Reviewing shipment documentation (bills of lading, delivery receipts, inspection reports, photos) to establish proof of loss or damage
Investigation Investigating and analyzing cargo claims for loss, damage, and delays to determine company liability and costs while protecting company and customer interests
Determining whether the carrier, the shipper, or the company bears liability
Documentation & filing Managing the documentation and submission process for each claim, and collecting the necessary documents and information to file, investigate, and resolve claims in a timely manner
Communication & follow-up Making contact with carriers, insurance companies, salvage companies, and customers regarding claims made by customers, receivers, or shippers for damaged goods or shortages of freight
Building and maintaining relationships with carriers, insurance companies, and customers
Serving as the primary point of contact for freight-claims-related information and coordinating with relevant internal departments
Resolution & collections Negotiating settlements and resolving claims
Handling collection efforts from clients and carriers related to outstanding claims
Working with accounting and collections staff to resolve carrier and customer accounting issues tied to claims
Reporting & process improvement Proactively reviewing outstanding claims and preparing regular reporting for leadership on claim status
Generating and analyzing claims data (trends, costs, resolutions) and recommending ways to reduce claim frequency
Helping improve claims processes and develop efficiencies

Pay Range $55,000 - $65,000 per year
