Job Description: The Proctor is responsible for the invigilation of tests and exams for students and applicants participating in a wide range of assessments at the Algonquin College Test Centre and the Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL) Test Services.
The incumbent ensures that testing takes place per Algonquin College policies, the policies and procedures of Testing Services, the specific test administration requirements outlined by the test provider or vendor, and all disability-related accommodations are put into place.
The incumbent ensures the setup and troubleshooting of individual tests and exams are carried out each day.
Duties and responsibilities: The incumbent is responsible for providing comprehensive service and support to all examinees registered to receive services through the Test Centre or CAL Test Services.
The incumbent must explain and clarify policy and procedure regarding tests and exams, often referring students and staff to other resources; The incumbent must know testing policies and procedures to assist students in requesting tests and testing accommodations.
The incumbent receives tests/exams from faculty across the college and follows up with academic departmental representatives when the test is not provided or the faculty member has not dropped the test off on time; The incumbent ensures test/exam accommodations are provided and students receive all testing materials, alternative formats and appropriate assistive technology and/or software; The incumbent is responsible for maintaining a calm and respectful testing environment; This individual will act as a reader and or scribe when required; Ensures students with disabilities have access to Assistive Technology (Dragon Naturally Speaking, Read and Write, Natural Reader, Kurzweil, Zoom
Text, JAWS)
and computer support for tests and exams as required; Ensures the setup and troubleshooting of tests and exams being written on a computer; The incumbent utilizes Net Control software to upload tests/exams from the Proctor workstation to monitor students writing computerized tests and exams; Provides administrative support to the Test Services Team Lead and at times in the Centre for Accessible Learning; Scans tests and exams for alternative formatting; Ensures protocol is followed when receiving exams from faculty and pickup of tests/exams; The incumbent responds to voicemail regarding general inquiries and cancellation of bookings; The incumbent processes electronic grading of tests and exams.
Required Qualifications: Minimum two (2) year diploma or equivalent in Office Administration or related field of study; Minimum two (2) years of experience in a Test Services facility in a post-secondary environment which includes the following: Comprehensive experience in working with persons who have disabilities in an educational setting; Work experience in a complex detail-oriented, customer service driven, computerized office setting; Experience in Microsoft Office and/or certification in Outlook, Excel, Word and Power
Point.
