We are a fully delegated Indigenous Child & Family Services Agency providing programs and services to Indigenous children, youth, and families on and off reserve within St:l Territory in the Fraser Valley between Yale First Nation and Surrey BC.

Page Break Team Leader- Guardianship FS - Full Time - Abbotsford Guardianship FS 0-12 Years Old Team 2 Salary - $90,.44 to $,.36 per annum (35 hrs per week) POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the FS Director of Operations, the Guardianship Team Leader will provide direction, leadership, clinical guidance, and support to staff within their team; maintain and improve existing service delivery; manage the teams workload distribution; andensure their staff receive adequate support, as well as any identified training and development to meet their learning and development needs.

The Guardianship Team Leader is responsible to work in collaboration with other teams and baskets within FVACSS.





The Guardianship Team Leader ensures comprehensive planning is in place for each child out of parental care and that each child has a permanency plan that ensures continuity, predictability with a strong focus on family, culture and community.

They will provide clinical supervision, coaching and mentoring to staff in order to develop their critical thought processes, assessments and analyses within child welfare situations.

The Guardianship Team Leader will ensure that services are delivered accurately and consistent with the CFCSA; An Act Respecting First Nations, Inuit and Mtis Children Youth and Families; Policies and Practice Standards; and the FVACFSS Policies and Procedures Manuals.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: Bachelor of Social Work Degree or in Child and Youth Care or equivalent; or Master of Arts in Educational Counselling/Clinical Psychology having completed a Practicum in Family and Child Welfare, or Masters in Social Work.

Other education and experience may be considered.

Minimum of three years of experience in the field of child welfare Experience supervising staff in a directly related program area.

Preference may be given to those who have 1 year or more supervisory experience in a directly related program area. C4 delegation is required, C6 is an asset Ability to practice the standards set out in the Child Protection Response Policies (Chapter 3); B.C.

Youth and Families; the Aboriginal Operational and Practice Standards and Indicators (AOPSI) Manual; and the Aboriginal Policy and Practice Framework.

Knowledge and appreciation of Indigenous cultures; understanding of how culture impacts in the development of individuals and communities; knowledge and understanding of the impacts of colonial policies and practices on Indigenous Peoples and communities; and an understanding of intergenerational trauma.

Understanding of cross-cultural issues as they affect children in care, foster parents, biological parents, and communities of origins.

Strong understanding of agency policies and procedure manuals. SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge of all applicable acts, regulations, policies, and procedures pertaining to child welfare service delivery.

Strong analytical skills: ability to identify, verbally and in writing, the current status of an issue, provide an analysis of the clinical practice and recommend an appropriate course of action.

Strong problem solving and dispute resolution skills.

Ability to form trusting, respectful and effective relationships with children, Indigenous communities, caregivers, parents, and other FVACFSS employees.

Demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities and work under pressure.

Maintain an attitude of caring, respect and optimism for their clients.

Maintain a explicit differentiation between the professional and personal self.

Computer skills for Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Valid BC Drivers License; reliable transportation with adequate vehicle insurance.
