Pickering Eastern Knights Basketball Club House League & Rep Teams About the Role

Pickering Eastern Knights Basketball Club is looking for dedicated, positive, and responsible Volunteer Basketball Coaches to join our House League and Rep Team programs.

Our coaches play an important role in helping young athletes develop basketball skills, confidence, teamwork, discipline, leadership, and character. Coaches are expected to create a positive, competitive, respectful, and safe environment for every player.

We are looking for coaches who want to make a difference both on and off the court.

HOUSE LEAGUE COACHAges 6–18 | Co-Ed Boys & Girls

House League coaching is focused on learning, development, participation, and having fun.

Responsibilities

- Lead weekly practices and basketball skill sessions
- Teach fundamental skills including:
- Dribbling
- Passing
- Shooting
- Footwork
- Defense
- Rebounding
- Ball handling
- Run age-appropriate basketball drills
- Coach weekly House League games
- Encourage teamwork and sportsmanship
- Provide positive feedback and instruction
- Give players opportunities to develop regardless of skill level
- Promote equal participation and fair play
- Help beginners learn the fundamentals and build confidence
- Create a fun, safe, and inclusive environment
- Communicate respectfully with parents and players
- Support end-of-season awards and celebrations

REP TEAM COACHCompetitive Basketball | Boys & Girls

Rep coaching is focused on player development, competition, teamwork,



preparation, and performance.

Responsibilities

- Lead structured and competitive practices
- Develop individual player skills
- Teach team concepts and basketball IQ
- Develop offensive and defensive systems
- Prepare players for competitive games and tournaments
- Conduct game planning and scouting when appropriate
- Evaluate player strengths and areas for improvement
- Provide constructive feedback
- Develop players according to their positions and roles
- Teach communication, discipline, accountability, and leadership
- Manage substitutions and game rotations
- Work with other coaches to develop the team
- Track player development throughout the season
- Help prepare players for higher levels of basketball
