Position Description

A temporary part‑time (0.2) Prep Teacher is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) for the period September 1, 2026 to January 29, 2027. The assignment is at Prespatou Elementary/Jr. Secondary School. Transportation from the Board Office to the school may be available. Teachers may be required to attend mandatory non‑instructional days on unscheduled work days.

Qualifications and Experience

- Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
- Qualifications and demonstrated ability to teach the identified subjects
- Experience with universal design and differentiation to meet diverse student needs
- Excellent interpersonal, communications, collaboration and organization skills
- Experience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning and ability to create a positive classroom community
- Robust belief in the philosophy of inclusion and the potential of all students to learn
- Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan for short‑term and long‑term learning
- Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff to enhance student learning




- Demonstrated use of proactive classroom management practices that maintain student dignity
- Demonstrated use of assessment practices that promote student learning and maintain student dignity
- Valid driver’s licence and vehicle ownership
- Experience with winter driving is an asset

Application Requirements

- Three (3) references
- Verification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate)

Compensation

- $2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon, and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas
- $3,500 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE)
- Salary as per collective agreement (current salary grid $72,720 – $118,770)
- Benefits as per collective agreement with options for medical, dental, extended health and group life insurance (employer paid based on FTE)
- Isolation allowance of $1,236.79 paid over 10 months
