Summary

To promote healthy youth, family and community environments in which all community members can thrive through culturally appropriate community-based programs. To support the complete physical, emotional, spiritual and mental well-being of the youth ages 13-24 through implementation of prevention and education program services.

Responsibilities

- 1. To participate in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the youth programs by providing an annual work plan.
- 2. To provide programming and activities that is consistent with Cultural, Health & Wellness and Recreation & Leisure components which promote resilience and well-being amongst our youth through delivery of educational and prevention services.
- 3. To participate in any public relations as a means of ensuring ongoing awareness to the community pertaining to the program of the Waasa Naabin Community Youth Services Centre.
- 4. To identify, recruit and assist in the development of youth volunteers for youth related activities; work closely with other services providers.
- 5. To provide 2SLGBTQ+ programming that offers a safe, inclusive space for youth who identify as Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, or questioning to gather weekly and organizing community activities and events.
- 6.



To be responsible for the drop-in centre which includes opening and closing the building; work evenings and weekends shifts in accordance with the work schedule.
- 7. To host, coordinate, participate and implement outside group activities which will at times include long and short trips, i.e. winter boot camp, soccer, T-Ball, baseball.
- 8. To be responsible for all youth initiative outings, i.e. bowling, movies
- 9. Ensure that there is compliance with program reports.
- 10. To participate, coordinate and implement the Outdoor Adventure Leadership Experience Program (OALE).
- 11. To assist and collaborate with other WUIR Agencies and to assist with activities for children between the ages of 7 – 12 years.

Qualifications

- o Child & Youth Worker College Diploma, Recreation & Leisure Services College Diploma, Social Services Worker College Diploma
- o Clear criminal reference check.
- o 1 – 2 years’ experience in program planning.
- o Valid or willing to obtain Ontario Driver’s License
- o Knowledge and understanding of First Nations communities and their culture
