Make a difference as a Substance Use Counsellor with YMCA in North York, ON. This role focuses on providing counselling to youth at risk, including street-involved individuals. At YMCA, you'll empower youth aged 14-24 through the Youth Substance Abuse program.
Your position involves conducting assessments, offering brief solution-focused counselling, and educating community members. You'll also engage with youth agencies and develop community awareness about substance use services in the GTA. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide motivational interviewing and motivational counselling
- Conduct intakes and assessments for at-risk youth
- Deliver presentations to schools and community agencies
- Maintain accurate client case notes and statistics
- Raise awareness of YSAP services among community stakeholders Requirements:
- S.W., B.A., or relevant diploma/experience
- Minimum two years working with at-risk youth
- Extensive knowledge of substance use strategies
- Training in 2SLGBTQ+ and trans-positive practices
