Title

Youth Wellness Navigator – Substance Use

Salary

$76,530 - $95,662- $105,229 per year (pay range explained below)

Contract

Term – March 2027

Hours

37.5 hours (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)

Location

Kamloops, and Kelowna, BC, located on the unceded ancestral territories of the Secwépemc and Syilx Nations.

About The Role

This role is responsible for supporting the implementation of the regional toxic drug response workplan, delivering harm reduction education and training within First Nations communities and responding to the unique needs of First Nations Communities in relation to youth and substance use.



The Youth Wellness Navigator works closely with the Regional Toxic Drug Specialist and Mental Health and Wellness teams to create and deliver youth-focused curriculum, including understanding substances, naloxone training, Indigenous harm reduction, decolonizing addiction and substance use, stigma and language.

About You

To be successful in this role, you must have a bachelor’s degree or combination of education and relevant, recent experience relating to youth wellness and substance abuse. Passionate about youth-focused substance abuse support, understanding substances, naloxone training, Indigenous harm reduction, decolonizing addiction and substance use, stigma and language.

Education

- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Child Youth Care, Social Work, Clinical Psychology or

an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Experience

- Recent, relevant and significant experience in Indigenous harm reduction (usually acquired over a period of 3-5 years)
- Experience with program development and workshop delivery
- Experience working with Indigenous leadership, health professionals and communities
- Experience working and/or interacting with youth, families and LGBTQIA2s+ individual
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

The Pay Range is the minimum and maximum annual salary based on full time equivalent hours.

Incumbents are typically hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on their knowledge, skills, abilities and experience in relation to the role requirements.

The top 10% of the pay range is for the incumbents who are industry experts in the job with the combination of exceptional experience and competencies needed to perform all duties and responsibilities at a superior capability level. Internal employee compensation will be determined as per the FNHA Employee Total Compensation Policy.
