Trillium Health Partners (THP) is participating in the Ministry of Health's Nursing Graduate Guarantee (NGG) initiative for 2026/2027. This initiative provides new graduate nurses in Ontario with temporary full-time employment for up to twelve weeks to support transition into practice.
NGG Initiative Aims
- Support new nurses in Ontario as they transition into practice;
- Improve the integration of new nurses into the workforce;
- Promote the availability of full-time employment or equivalent hours for new nurses;
- Support health workforce planning at the organizational level.
THP Support for NGG Participants
- Provide general orientation to the organization to ensure consistent knowledge of practices, policies and standards;
- Ensure a mentor is available and designate a transition‑into‑practice leader responsible for NGG implementation and progress tracking;
- Develop a learning plan with the new nurse and mentor;
- Meet learning plan goals using varied teaching strategies specific to the area/unit of employment.
Eligibility
Participation is open to nurses within 12 months of registering with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). The nurse must be registered with the CNO (Temporary Class or General Class) before beginning the NGG transition.
Education and Match Requirements
- Canadian Educated Nurses : Graduated with a baccalaureate degree in nursing or a diploma from a practical nursing program in Canada;
- Match with an employer on the NGG online portal within 12 months of registration with the CNO;
- Commit to accepting full-time employment or equivalent hours after completing the NGG transition.
- Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) : Completed nursing education outside Canada;
- Match with an employer on the NGG portal within 12 months of registering with the CNO;
- Commit to accepting full-time employment or equivalent hours after completing the NGG transition.
Steps To Apply
- Register on the NGG portal as a Nursing User.
- Apply to positions at Trillium Health Partners when available on the NGG portal.
Key Note
THP recognizes that many new nursing graduates are not yet registered with the CNO and may not be able to formally register on the NGG portal. If you are not yet registered with the CNO, you may apply to this posting but must register with the CNO (Temporary or General Class) before starting your NGG transition.
