Company: Finning Canada Number of Openings: 2 Worker Type: Permanent Position Overview: At Finning Canada, we are seeking two permanent, full-time Technical Service Representatives (TSRs) to support our mining customers in Fort McKay. In this customer-focused role, you will build strong internal and external relationships while providing technical expertise to maximize equipment reliability, availability, and performance.
You will serve as a trusted advisor, helping customers optimize the repair and maintenance of Caterpillar mining equipment in accordance with OEM standards and best practices. Working closely with internal teams and various stakeholders, you will proactively identify equipment issues, recommend solutions, and support long-term maintenance planning to minimize downtime and improve operational efficiency.
Direct engagement with our customers will be required to support technical discussions and repair planning. This position is located out of our Fort McKay branch on a 14x14 continuous rotation.
Job Description: Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships through regular shop and job-face visits and ongoing communication. Schedule stakeholder meetings, establish agendas, and provide accurate reporting of events and findings Conduct technical audits and equipment assessments to identify performance, reliability, and maintenance opportunities.
Analyze equipment condition and provide stakeholders with technical recommendations, service options, and component replacement strategies. Collaborate with Finning's Parts, Service, and Operations teams to ensure timely delivery of parts and support services.
Evaluate machine health and support stakeholders in achieving equipment repair goals and outcomes. Provide timely technical analysis, troubleshooting assistance, and resolution of stakeholder concerns. Escalate machine-down or repair critical situations to the appropriate internal stakeholders to ensure rapid response and resolution.
Recommend safety, maintenance, and operational improvements that enhance equipment performance and reliability. Maintain detailed records of technical issues, solutions, and machine history to support continuous improvement.
Ensure approximately 80% of work time is spent directly supporting service operations and improvement project teams Foster robust communication and collaboration across departments to deliver exceptional customer technical support.
Qualifications
- Technical Knowledge Strong knowledge of Caterpillar equipment and mining applications. Sound mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose equipment issues and request corrective actions. Understanding of equipment maintenance, component life cycles, and reliability principles.
- Experience Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) designation preferred, or equivalent extensive mechanical experience. Minimum 5 years of mining, heavy equipment, or related industry experience. Previous experience in a customer-facing technical support, service, or maintenance role.
- Skills & Competencies Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational, planning, and time-management abilities. Effective problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to build credibility and trust with customers and internal stakeholders. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
