We are seeking an experienced Senior Avionics Systems Engineer Open IMA Platform to lead the architecture, integration, and certification of Open Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) platforms for commercial, business jet, military, and advanced air mobility aircraft programs. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Open IMA architectures, ARINC standards, avionics certification, and system integration with experience supporting FAA, EASA, or TCCA certification programs. Key Responsibilities
Define and maintain Open IMA system architectures aligned with aircraft and system-level requirements.
Develop functional, logical, physical, and deployment architectures for hosted avionics applications.
Allocate aircraft functions across IMA modules while ensuring compliance with safety, performance, and certification requirements.
Define partitioning strategies for applications, operating systems, communication services, and shared platform resources.
Perform system architecture trade studies, resource allocation, and performance analysis.
Lead integration of avionics applications on Open IMA platforms, including ARINC 653 partition configuration, scheduling, health monitoring, and communication services.
Configure CPU, memory, network bandwidth, latency, and I/O resource allocation for hosted applications.
Troubleshoot platform integration issues including partition timing, resource conflicts, communication, startup sequencing, and network performance.
Develop and review certification evidence, compliance documentation, and traceability artifacts.
Support certification audits, authority reviews, and compliance activities for FAA, EASA, and TCCA programs.
Define and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and manage interfaces between hosted applications, platform services, and aircraft systems.
Support AFDX (ARINC 664), CAN, Ethernet, and serial communication architecture development.
Lead technical reviews, architecture assessments, risk analysis, and design reviews.
Mentor engineering teams and collaborate with Systems, Software, Hardware, Safety, Verification & Validation, and Certification teams. Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
12 20+ years of avionics systems engineering experience with hands-on expertise in Open IMA platform development, integration, and certification.
Experience supporting FAA, EASA, or TCCA certification programs.
Solid experience with ARINC 653 partitioned operating environments and Open IMA architectures.
Experience with AFDX (ARINC 664) networking, platform resource management, and system integration.
Strong understanding of DO-297 Integrated Modular Avionics lifecycle processes.
Experience with hosted application deployment, partition scheduling, health monitoring, and platform configuration.
Expertise in avionics system architecture, interface management, and integration troubleshooting.
Strong leadership, analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Preferred Skills
Experience with commercial aircraft, business jets, military, or advanced air mobility platforms.
Knowledge of DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4754A, ARP4761A, DO-160, DO-330, and AC 20-115D.
Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and systems modeling tools.
Familiarity with certification compliance planning, verification, and validation activities. Technical Skills
