Field Service & Technical Support Specialist – Precision Agriculture

The Opportunity

WEED-IT Canada is the official Canadian distributor of WEED-IT precision spot-spraying technology developed by

Rometron. For more than 25 years, WEED-IT has helped growers reduce herbicide use by detecting chlorophyll in real

time and applying crop protection products only where living vegetation is present.

We are seeking a Field Service & Technical Support Specialist to support growers and dealers through installation,

commissioning, training, troubleshooting, demonstrations, and ongoing technical service.

This is a field-based, relationship-focused role for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, working directly with

farmers, and becoming a trusted advisor. You will manage the Saskatchewan territory while working closely with the

Lead Technical Support Specialist and the broader WEED-IT Canada team.

As a small, collaborative organization, we value initiative, communication, shared problem-solving, and practical ideas

that improve customer service, procedures, and technical resources.

Key Responsibilities

Customer and Technical Support

- Install, commission, calibrate, and support WEED-IT systems on agricultural sprayers.
- Diagnose electrical, electronic, sensor, wiring, control-system, plumbing, and equipment-integration issues.
- Provide technical support and training to growers and dealers in person, by phone, and through remote troubleshooting.
- Take ownership of customer concerns by coordinating troubleshooting, communication, follow-up, and escalation
- through resolution.
- Use company checklists and procedures to gather information, develop an initial diagnosis, document troubleshooting,
- and escalate complex issues when required.
- Maintain clear customer records and communicate active concerns, work completed, current system status, required
- follow-up, and relevant equipment history.
- Prepare clear customer coverage summaries before scheduled time away so another technician can provide informed,
- consistent support.
- Build trusted, long-term relationships with growers and dealers through responsive, knowledgeable, and practical
- service.





Territory and Demonstration Support

- Support the setup, maintenance, readiness, and operation of the WEED-IT Canada demonstration sprayer.
- Coordinate and conduct on-farm demonstrations within Saskatchewan, working directly with prospective and existing
- customers so they understand the technology and feel confident evaluating and operating it on their farms.
- Identify customer needs and opportunities that may contribute to future system sales and coordinate those
- opportunities through the General Manager.

Team and Operational Support

- Support installations, peak workloads, customer coverage during scheduled time away, and other territories when
- required.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, curious, dependable, and comfortable working independently while contributing to a

collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications

- Robust electrical and electronic aptitude, including experience diagnosing wiring, connectors, sensors, control systems,
- and power-supply issues.
- Previous technical, service, precision-agriculture, or agricultural equipment-support experience within the Canadian
- A practical understanding of agricultural spraying operations and the time-sensitive nature of customer support during
- spraying seasons.
- Experience with agricultural sprayers, rate controllers, monitors, precision-agriculture systems, plumbing, or related
- technology.
- A systematic approach to troubleshooting, problem-solving, and documentation.
- A customer-first mindset and genuine interest in building long-term relationships with farmers and dealers.
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
- The initiative to learn independently while asking questions and collaborating when needed.




- A valid Class 5 driver’s licence and the ability to meet WEED-IT Canada’s company-vehicle insurance requirements.
- An acceptable five-year driver’s abstract will be required as a condition of employment.
- The ability to work from a home office and manage the Saskatchewan territory.
- Experience with WEED-IT systems is not required. Formal electrical or electronics training, agricultural spraying or
- precision-agriculture experience, and previous agricultural dealership or technology-support experience are significant
- assets.

Travel and Training

This role includes regular customer travel throughout Saskatchewan. Travel will be more frequent during initial training

and certain agricultural seasons, while proactive communication, preseason preparation, and effective scheduling will help

manage the territory efficiently.

Most WEED-IT installations take place near Foremost, Alberta. Initial onboarding will include hands‑on training in

Alberta with the Lead Technical Support Specialist, manufacturers, installation partners, and customers.

WEED-IT Canada works collaboratively across roles and territories. Technicians are expected to support installations,

peak workloads, scheduled time away, and customer coverage outside their primary territory when required.

Compensation and Benefits

Base Salary: $75,000–$95,000 annually, depending on relevant experience, technical capability, agricultural knowledge,

and demonstrated ability to perform the role.

You will also be eligible to participate in a performance-based bonus plan. In the first year of the plan, the bonus

opportunity is $1,500 , less statutory deductions, for every successful system sale to which you materially contributed.

The bonus will be calculated and paid quarterly. You must be actively employed by WEED-IT Canada at the time of

payment to be eligible for the bonus, unless otherwise agreed in writing. This plan will be reviewed and may be amended

annually at WEED-IT Canada’s sole discretion.
