Job Title: Avionics System Requirements Engineer

Location: Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Work Mode: Hybrid (2 Days Onsite)

We are seeking an experienced Avionics System Requirements Engineer to support aircraft development and modification programs by defining, authoring, validating, and managing avionics system requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in avionics systems engineering, requirements management, certification processes, and aerospace industry standards, with prior experience working for an OEM, Tier-1 avionics supplier, aircraft integrator, or certified airborne systems program. Key Responsibilities

Develop, author, review, and maintain avionics system requirements based on stakeholder needs, system architecture, safety analysis, and certification requirements.

Create aircraft-level, system-level, subsystem-level, interface, derived, and safety-related requirements.

Ensure requirements are clear, complete, traceable, verifiable, and compliant with customer engineering standards.

Translate stakeholder, operational, and safety requirements into detailed system requirements.

Develop requirements for avionics functions including navigation processing, flight management, sensor processing, data communication, displays, BIT, failure management, and degraded mode operations.

Perform requirements traceability, validation, impact analysis, and change management throughout the development lifecycle.

Support Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA), Preliminary System Safety Assessment (PSSA),



and System Safety Assessment (SSA) activities.

Participate in requirements reviews, design reviews, certification audits, and quality gates.

Collaborate with system, software, hardware, integration, safety, certification, and supplier engineering teams.

Generate traceability reports, review packages, compliance documentation, and change impact assessments.

Support certification activities aligned with aerospace development standards and customer processes. Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Avionics Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or Instrumentation Engineering.

8 15+ years of avionics systems engineering experience.

Experience working with an Aircraft OEM, Tier-1 Avionics Supplier, Aircraft Integrator, or Certified Airborne Systems Program.

Solid experience in avionics requirements engineering for aircraft development or modification programs.

Experience with one or more avionics subsystems including:

Flight Management System (FMS)

Datalink / Communication Management

Radio Navigation

Head-Up Display (HUD)

Air Data Systems





Inertial Reference System (IRS/ADIRS)

Flight Control Interfaces

Displays & Crew Alerting

Surveillance Systems

Communication, Navigation & Identification (CNI)

Strong understanding of requirements development, validation, traceability, verification, and change management.

Experience using industry-standard requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS, DOORS Next, Polarion, Jama Connect, Codebeamer, PTC Integrity, or Teamcenter Requirements.

Experience with architecture and modeling tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody, or MATLAB/Simulink.

Familiarity with JIRA, Azure DevOps, Git, PLM, and ALM tools. Preferred Skills
