Position Summary

The Pharmacy Assistant and Technician play a significant role in the quality and safety of our medications. They assist in the billing, preparation, packaging, and organization of the medication deliveries, which requires exceptional attention to detail. Their support to the Pharmacists and the team is essential to maintaining our quality standards.

Our Pharmacy is looking for a Pharmacy Assistant and Technician to work at our Barrie location.

Full Job Description

- Patient greeting and confirmation of the accuracy of all pertinent prescription information prior to filling.
- Handling customer prescription pick up
- Data entry of patient care information into Kroll software
- Counts pills, labels bottles, prices, and compounds medications to prepare prescriptions for patients as directed
- Third-party adjudication (if necessary)
- Accurate dispensing prescription medications
- To prepare blister pack
- Performs administrative duties, including answering phones, receiving, and inputting prescription orders
- Maintenance of pharmacy stock through inventory control system
- General OTC enquiries from patients and referral to pharmacist where required and necessary
- Assisting with cashier responsibilities as required in the pharmacy

Additional for RPT's

- RPT’s will have independent authority, responsibility, and liability to prepare, process and compound prescriptions including:




- Receiving and transcribing verbal prescriptions from practitioners

- Ensuring prescriptions are complete and authentic
- Providing injections/vaccinations as applicable by regulations in certain jurisdictions
- Transferring prescriptions to and receiving prescriptions from other pharmacies
- Ensuring the accuracy of prepared prescriptions
- Conducting the final check of prepared prescriptions
- Confirming the accuracy of drug and personal health information in patient records

Skills & Qualifications

- High School Diploma
- Diploma from a Pharmacy Assistant credited course preferred
- Diploma from a Pharmacy Technician credited course and licensed with OCP for RPT's position
- Previous Pharmacy Experience preferred
- Kroll input experience is an asset
- Retail Experience an Asset
- Exceptional customer service skills with a talent for building customer loyalty
- High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and productivity
- Reliability, strong communication skills, initiative, team player, interpersonal skills are essential
- Effective organizational skills, ability to multi-task
- Problem Solving Skills
- Strong attention to detail
