YES Theatre is inviting applications for the position of Musical Theatre Instructor for the 2026-27 season.
The successful applicant will have an extensive background in singing and movement and a familiarity with traditional and contemporary musical theatre genres and titles (including live and animated musicals), as well as related experience working with children and youth in performance-related settings,
OVERVIEW
Two classes are held on Saturdays over three nine-week terms. Each term ends in an informal recital for invited family members. Over each term, the Instructor will be responsible for selecting and securing background tracks for two to three pieces of age-appropriate repertoire for each class, and for preparing the class participants to present at least two selections at the recital, each of which combines singing and vocal expression with choreographed movement.
Classes are limited to 20 participants. The Instructor will be assisted by 1-2 secondary school volunteers.
Classes are held in the Rehearsal Hall at the Sudbury Theatre Centre (STC) – a sound system will be provided. The Instructor will also be provided access to the STC’s collection of youth costuming, props and basic set pieces for instructional and performance purposes,
as well as access to a photocopier and a supply of stationery materials (pens, paper, markers, etc.).
The Musical Theatre Instructor reports to YES Theatre's Education Director. Lesson plans are to be submitted before each class, using the template provided.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:
MUSICAL THEATRE DEVELOPMENT| ages 11 to 17 | 10:15 am to 11:30 am
An opportunity for teens to learn vocal techniques while exploring different aspects of Musical Theatre. Participants will expand their musical vocabularies while combining singing in harmony with movement and expression. The full performance experience!
MUSICAL THEATRE DISCOVERY| ages 8 to 10 | 11:45 am to 1:00 pm
Students explore basic vocal techniques, rhythm and movement in a fun, energetic and inclusive workplace. Each week covers different aspects of Musical Theatre as students learn to sing and move while expanding their musical vocabulary.
