We are looking for enthusiastic part-time Reading & Writing Tutors who enjoy working with students.
As a Sylvan Instructor, you will receive comprehensive training in the Sylvan teaching method and curriculum, along with the tools and support needed to teach in a small-group setting (up to 3 students per instructor).
Responsibilities * Teach reading and writing using Sylvan programs and instructional methods * Support students in developing reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, spelling, and writing skills * Assist students with English homework and assignments when appropriate * Motivate, encourage,
and engage students throughout each lesson * Recognize and reward student achievement * Evaluate and document student progress * Build positive relationships with students and create a fun, supportive learning environment Hours of Instruction * Monday–Thursday: 2:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. * Friday: 2:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. * Saturday: 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field, or currently pursuing one * Previous tutoring or teaching experience preferred * Familiarity with the BC Curriculum is an asset * Robust communication and interpersonal skills * Excellent written and verbal English skills * Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment * Passion for helping students build confidence and become stronger readers and writers * Available to work 2+ shifts per week
