As demand for air conditioning and cold-climate heat pumps continues to grow, we are looking for a Red Seal Journeyman Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic to join our team. This position focuses primarily on the installation, service, and commissioning of air conditioning and heat pump systems, with opportunities to expand into heating work for technicians holding gas or oil certifications.

Location: Whitehorse, Yukon

Position: Full-Time, Permanent

Compensation: $100,000–$120,000+ annually (depending on experience)

Key Responsibilities

- Install, service, diagnose, and repair residential and light commercial:
- Cold-climate heat pump systems




- Air conditioning systems
- Mini-split and centrally ducted systems
- VRF and light commercial HVAC equipment (experience considered an asset)
- Perform system commissioning and startup procedures.
- Troubleshoot refrigeration circuits, electrical controls, compressors, and airflow issues.
- Recover, evacuate, pressure test, and charge refrigeration systems in accordance with industry standards.
- Perform preventative maintenance and warranty service.
- Complete service documentation accurately and professionally.
- Maintain a clean, organized company vehicle and job site.
- Deliver outstanding customer service and represent Fireweed Home Comfort professionally.

Required Qualifications

- Red Seal Journeyman Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic
- Valid Refrigerant Handling / ODS Certification
- Experience installing and servicing residential air conditioning and heat pump systems
- Strong electrical and refrigeration troubleshooting skills
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driving record
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Qualified communication and customer service skills

Assets (Preferred but Not Required)

- Gas Fitter Licence (Class B, G2/G1, or equivalent)
- Oil Burner Mechanic (OBM) Certification




- Experience with propane furnaces, boilers, and hydronic heating systems
- Experience with commercial rooftop units, VRF systems, or refrigeration equipment
- Experience with HVAC controls and commissioning
- Manufacturer training or certifications (Daikin, Mitsubishi, Moovair, Lennox, Coleman, etc.)
