Position Overview

An established approved youth residential program in the Abbotsford area is seeking compassionate, resilient, and dependable Youth Resource Support Workers to join our team.

We provide safe, trauma-informed, relationship-based care for a diverse group of vulnerable youth aged 0 to 19. Our program operates around the clock, with a focus on stability, emotional safety, skill-building, and meaningful connection.

This position follows a 24-hour live-in shift schedule to provide consistent support for youth. Live-in staff work alongside a shift partner during active care hours to ensure a safe, supportive, and team-based environment.

Each live-in shift also includes a separate awake overnight worker who is scheduled for an eight-hour overnight shift. The awake overnight employee is responsible for overnight supervision, monitoring, routine youth needs, and responding to concerns that arise during the night. This separate overnight coverage provides the live-in Youth Resource Support Worker with a designated overnight rest period in a private sleep space.

Core Responsibilities

- Team-Based Care: Work collaboratively with your shift partner to provide secure, consistent supervision and supportive care.
- Daily Routines: Assist youth with age-appropriate routines, including meals, school preparation,



personal care, appointments, recreational activities, and household responsibilities.
- Meal Preparation: Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals and snacks, while supporting youth to build practical cooking and nutrition skills where appropriate.
- Emotional Support: Build respectful, trusting relationships with youth and provide encouragement, mentorship, and life-skills coaching.
- Crisis Management: Use trauma-informed, non-violent de-escalation strategies to respond safely and effectively to challenging behaviours or crises.
- Documentation: Complete accurate daily logs, medication documentation, shift notes, incident reports, and other required records.
- Household Support: Maintain a clean, organized, welcoming, and safe home environment.

Requirements & Qualifications

- Commitment to Training: Willingness to complete training and participate in ongoing professional development.
- Experience: We are seeking candidates with a post-secondary diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, Education, or a related field, along with at least one year of relevant experience supporting children, youth, or vulnerable populations. Candidates with a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years of directly relevant experience supporting children, youth, or vulnerable populations may also be considered.

- Clearances: Ability to successfully complete mandatory MCFD screening and maintain a clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Driver’s Licence: Valid BC Driver’s Licence.
- First Aid: Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain certification as a condition of employment.
- Personal Qualities: Compassion, emotional maturity, reliability, sound judgment, adaptability, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
