About Mechlines Contractors Ltd.
Mechlines Contractors Ltd. is a growing mechanical contractor specializing in plumbing, HVAC, hydronic heating and mechanical construction for commercial and institutional projects throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Coordinator / Junior Project Manager to support the successful delivery of our ICI mechanical projects.
This position is suited to an experienced Project Coordinator who understands construction, can confidently review drawings and is ready to take on greater responsibility while developing into a Mechanical Project Manager.
Responsibilities
- Assist with managing mechanical projects from award through construction and closeout
- Review architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical drawings and specifications
- Identify scope requirements, drawing conflicts and coordination issues
- Prepare, issue and track RFIs, shop drawings, submittals and change documentation
- Maintain project logs for procurement, changes, deficiencies and outstanding action items
- Coordinate with general contractors, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors and field personnel
- Assist with material and equipment procurement, purchase orders and delivery tracking
- Obtain and review supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Assist with preparing change orders, project budgets, cost reports and forecasts
- Monitor project schedules, deadlines and deliverables
- Attend project meetings and prepare clear meeting minutes
- Organize and maintain project files using Microsoft Teams and SharePoint
- Communicate drawing revisions, site instructions and project requirements to field staff
- Assist with progress billing and subcontractor payment reviews
- Support testing, commissioning,
deficiency completion and project closeout
- Prepare operation and maintenance manuals, warranty documents and record drawing packages
- Attend project sites as required
Qualifications
- Minimum three years of project coordination or junior project management experience in ICI construction
- Previous experience with a mechanical contractor is strongly preferred
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Good understanding of construction documentation, procurement and project coordination procedures
Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu is required, including:
- Reviewing and marking up drawings
- Comparing drawing revisions
- Creating overlays
- Performing measurements and basic quantity takeoffs
- Organizing drawing sets
Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365, including:
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Outlook
- Microsoft Teams
- Microsoft SharePoint
Other Qualifications
- Experience preparing RFIs, submittals, change orders and project logs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and document-control abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and priorities
- Detail-oriented and capable of identifying issues before they affect construction
- Able to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence and reliable transportation
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Assets
- Experience with plumbing, HVAC or hydronic heating projects
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or Revit
- Construction-related diploma, degree or trade background
- Experience with project cost tracking, forecasting and progress billing
- Experience coordinating commissioning and project closeout
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is more than a project administrator. They understand ICI construction, can confidently navigate construction drawings and are comfortable communicating with consultants, general contractors, suppliers and field personnel.
They are organized, dependable and proactive, with the ability to follow up on outstanding items, identify potential problems and help keep projects on schedule and within budget.
