This is a recurring, term-based teaching commitment—not a casual or occasional shift.
Please apply only if you:
- Can consistently arrive at an assigned Toronto school during after-school hours, with sessions scheduled between 3:30 and 5:15 PM.
- Can commit to your assigned weekly class for the entire school term, except for genuine emergencies.
- Are interested in continuing across multiple school terms.
- Understand that new instructors normally begin with one or two sessions per week.
- Are comfortable speaking, teaching and performing in front of groups of children.
- Can obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check and CPR certification before starting.
We invest significant time in training each instructor. This position is best suited to someone who wants to become a dependable, long-term member of our teaching team- not someone looking to try the role for only a few weeks.
The Role
You will teach children simple magic tricks using our structured teaching methods while creating a positive and engaging classroom environment.
Classes typically have 5- 12 students.
Responsibilities include:
- Teaching magic tricks designed for children
- Keeping students engaged and following the lesson structure
- Helping students build confidence and presentation skills
- Maintaining a professional and dependable presence at the school
Experience working with children is a robust asset.
Schedule and Compensation
- Pay: $55 per session, including teaching and travel time
- Session length:
Approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour and 10 minutes
- Schedule: Weekdays between 3:30 and 5:15 PM
- Starting workload: Usually one two two sessions per week
- Additional schools may become available based on performance, availability and program demand
- Work follows school schedules and is not guaranteed year-round
- This is a contract-based, part-time position
Training
- No previous magic experience is required
- Paid training is provided at $20 per hour during the probationary training period
- After training, you will lead a class as a final evaluation
- Successful completion qualifies you to continue as a lead instructor
Hiring Process
Step 1: Zoom Interview (August 6–13)
Selected applicants will:
- Learn and perform a simple magic trick using a provided training video
- Complete a short interview focused on communication, reliability and suitability for the role
Step 2: In-Person Interview
Toronto – Don Mills and York Mills area
Choose one:
- August 11 at 3:00 PM
- August 13 at 12:00 PM
The interview includes a short teaching or demonstration activity.
Location details will be provided to selected candidates.
Final hiring decisions will be made shortly after the in-person interviews. Successful candidates will be notified by August 26.
