Diesel Mechanic
Location: Winnipeg, MB
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, with some overtime as required
Pay Rate: $23.55–$43.17 per hour, depending on experience, training, and certifications
Expected Hours: 40–50 hours per week
Job Summary
Staffmax is currently looking for a responsible, safety-conscious, and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our client’s team in Winnipeg, MB.
The successful candidate will perform maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on a fleet of construction equipment, heavy-duty trucks, and trailers. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated mechanic who enjoys working independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on construction equipment, heavy-duty trucks, and trailers.
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, suspension systems, brake systems, and air systems.
- Follow established vehicle and equipment maintenance schedules and preventive maintenance plans.
- Complete repairs and maintenance work efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
- Clean, lubricate, inspect, and service vehicles, equipment, attachments, and working tools.
- Provide training, guidance, and hands-on support to apprentices performing maintenance and repair work.
- Monitor and manage shop inventory to ensure required parts, supplies, and consumables are available.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to source and order parts and materials.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
- Keep the shop and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Follow all company policies, workplace safety procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience repairing construction equipment, diesel trucks, and trailers.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems.
- Red Seal Certification is preferred but not required.
- Previous experience working with heavy-duty construction equipment is strongly preferred.
- Welding experience is considered an asset but is not required.
- Valid driver’s licence is required.
- Must have a personal set of mechanic tools.
- Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and maintaining a clean work environment.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive hourly wage of $23.55–$43.17 per hour, based on experience, training, and certifications.
