Pet Store Sales Associate – Cat & Dog Nutrition

Pay: $18.25–$20.00 per hour, based on experience and pet nutrition knowledge
Locations: Blue Ribbon Pet Supplies and Mother Hubbard’s Pet Food
Schedule: Must be available for at least one weekend day, holidays and a range of shifts between 9:15 a.m. and 9:15 p.m.

Are you passionate about cats, dogs and helping pet owners make informed choices? Blue Ribbon Pet Supplies and Mother Hubbard’s Pet Food are looking for friendly, dependable and hardworking team members to join our South Surrey stores.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with animals, learning about pet nutrition and providing excellent customer service. Previous pet industry experience is an asset, but we are happy to train applicants who are motivated to learn and put in the work.

Store Locations

- Blue Ribbon Pet Supplies: 220–15355 24 Avenue, South Surrey
- Mother Hubbard’s Pet Food: 1812 152 Street, South Surrey

Preference will be given to applicants who can work at both locations

Responsibilities

- Help customers select appropriate food, treats and supplies for their cats and dogs
- Learn about pet nutrition, ingredients and the products carried in our stores
- Provide friendly, knowledgeable and honest customer service
- Operate the register and process customer purchases
- Receive, unpack and stock frequent product deliveries
- Keep shelves organized, fully stocked and properly faced
- Complete daily cleaning and store-maintenance duties
- Lift and carry bags ( up to 50lbs), boxes and other products
- Work collaboratively with the team to keep the store running smoothly

- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfort with lifting, bending, reaching, stocking and heavy-duty cleaning
- Availability for at least one weekend day
- Flexibility to work some evenings and holidays

Previous retail, pet-store or pet-nutrition experience is preferred but not required. Applicants without industry experience must be willing to complete training and build their product knowledge.

Compensation

The starting wage is $18.25–$20.00 per hour, depending on relevant experience and pet-nutrition knowledge. Employees who begin without industry experience may have opportunities for wage increases as they complete training, demonstrate strong performance and expand their knowledge.
