A Manager - Engineering plans, organizes, directs, and controls the activities required for effective management of the Engineering Department. Ensure quality and Client satisfaction. Assist the EVP, Technology in developing and maintaining fiscal responsibility for the department.SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIESResponsible for supervising engineering and design including distribution of engineering workload and set timeline goals for project engineering deliveryProvide system engineering to support workloadsProvide estimating support as needed to support workloadsProvide Presales Engineering for Account Executives and Estimating team membersDevelop Engineering Department short- and long-range goals to coincide with Company objectives.Provide reports to EVP Technology, and other senior management to include but not limited to staff performance, product performance, project design trends.Assist in determining appropriate staffing levels for the Engineering Department.Establish and implement productivity standards and communicate job expectations to staff.Establish and maintain procedures and standards for quality engineering and design working with the EVP, Technology.GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIESRepresent Company in a business-like professional manner in both conduct and appearance, to maximize client satisfaction.Work in compliance with the Company’s policies and procedures including safety manual with safety of self and others in mind at all times.Maintain and protect assigned Company assets.Accurate written record keeping, submitted on time and completeAvailable to work outside of, or in addition to, normal business hours.SUPERVISORY DUTIESIn accordance with applicable Company policies/procedures, will perform the following supervisory responsibilities: Interviewing, hiring, orienting and training employees;
planning, assigning, and directing work;
coaching and appraisingperformance;
rewarding and disciplining employees;
addressing complaintsand resolving problems.
Supervise, develop, evaluate, and discipline Engineering Department personnel in accordance with PTI policies and procedures.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS6+ years working in the technical field where electronics or networking theory is used on a daily basisExtensive security and low voltage knowledgeProficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized business systemsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSTechnical, Electronic, or IT Associates Degree1 year of supervisory experience4 year of Security industry experienceKnowledge of NEC Code and low voltage systemsPROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIESAbility to function as an effective leader, and inspire, motivate and coach othersExcellent time-management and organizational skills.Ability to work in a high-volume atmosphere.Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities with minimal supervisionExcellent interpersonal skillsAbility to finish projects on timeAbility to organize workload for effective implementationAbility to clearly and concisely present information in one-on-one and small group situationsStrong customer focus with a proven record of resultsAbility to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse culturesAbility to adapt as the external workplace and organization evolvesPHYSICAL DEMANDSMust be able to effectively communicate, (i.E. see, hear, speak and write clearly) in order to communicate with employees and/or other customers;
manual dexterity required for occasional reaching and lifting of small objects, and operating office equipment.WORKING CONDITIONSThe office is clean, orderly,
properly lighted and ventilated.
