Job title: Broker Communication Lead
Role type: 1 year contract (Maternity)
Shift: Hybrid - 3 days in office - Monday to Friday typical day shift 9am to 5pm but must be able to work overtime
Pay rate: $53.50/hour. No benefits while on contract period

The Role Overview:
Brokers are essential to company's business, and broker communications play a key role in driving engagement, supporting business goals, and ensuring brokers have the information they need to serve customers effectively. This maternity leave coverage role leads the planning and delivery of broker communications across the organization. Working closely with Marketing, Broker Distribution, Underwriting, Customer Experience, and Change & Transformation teams, the Broker Communications Lead will create timely, relevant, and data-driven communications that strengthen broker relationships and support business priorities. The successful candidate will bring robust communications and stakeholder management skills, along with a customer-focused mindset, to enhance broker engagement, advance audience segmentation, and continuously improve communication effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Communications Strategy & Execution
- Lead the development and execution of broker communication strategies, campaigns, and programs aligned to business priorities.
- Create compelling, broker-focused content and oversee key communication channels, including newsletters and recurring programs.
- Manage the broker communications calendar, ensuring effective planning, prioritization, and coordination across the organization.
- Monitor performance, analyze results, and share recommendations, insights,
and outcomes with stakeholders and leadership.
Broker Engagement & Audience Insights
- Partner with Broker Distribution, Customer Experience, Marketing, and other teams to strengthen the broker experience and communication effectiveness.
- Act as the primary liaison between Marketing and Broker Distribution, ensuring alignment on priorities, messaging, and campaign support.
- Leverage broker feedback, research, segmentation, and engagement data to inform communications strategies and improve outcomes.
- Support forums, surveys, and other feedback initiatives that provide actionable insights and strengthen broker relationships.
Audience Management & Optimization
- Manage audience segmentation, broker distribution lists, reporting, and campaign targeting.
- Partner with Marketing Operations and Digital Marketing teams to execute campaigns, monitor performance, and identify opportunities for greater engagement and business impact.
- Support the evolution of segmentation strategies to deliver more personalized communications.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Serve as the communications lead and subject matter expert for the broker channel.
- Build and influence relationships across Marketing, Broker Distribution, Underwriting, Customer Experience, and senior leadership teams.
- Coach and support the Broker Communications Specialist, fostering professional growth and ensuring high-quality execution.
- Champion communications best practices and provide strategic counsel on broker engagement initiatives.
- Lead multiple priorities simultaneously, translating complex business initiatives into clear, actionable communications.
Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in communications, marketing communications, public relations, content strategy, or a related field.
- Experience developing strategic communication programs for external audiences, ideally within insurance, financial services, or broker/distribution environments.
- Proven success influencing stakeholders and leading cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong writing, editing, and audience-focused content development skills.
- Experience using customer insights, engagement data, and campaign metrics to drive decision-making.
- Knowledge of broker distribution, customer experience, marketing communications, and change management.
- Experience managing communication calendars, newsletters, surveys, and integrated campaigns.
- Demonstrated ability to balance strategy and execution.
- Experience coaching or mentoring team members.
- Post-secondary education in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Business, or a related discipline.
Preferred Technical Skills
Experience with the following platforms and tools is considered an asset:
- Salesforce CRM, including audience management, campaign support, reporting, and analytics
- Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)
- Adobe Campaign and/or Adobe Marketing Cloud solutions
- Email marketing and marketing automation platforms
- Web analytics and campaign reporting tools
- Microsoft 365 applications, including PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint
- Project management and collaboration tools such as Planner, Jira, or similar platforms
