Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of HCM and Compensation, the HCM and HR Analyst will deliver operational and service excellence in HR data and system functions. This highly technical role primarily supports Human Capital Management (HCM) system administration, HR data processing, and Human Resource metrics and reporting. The analyst will act as the Workday technical user for maintaining the HR system and ensuring HR data quality.
This position requires strong expertise with HRIS systems, specifically Workday. The ideal candidate will build reports within Workday and possess advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, formulas, pivot tables, and macros. Experience with Power BI is an asset. The role involves working with complex data sets and requires a solid analytical mindset to support HR operations and reporting needs.
Role And Responsibilities
- Act as the technical subject‑matter expert for HCM data and systems.
- Develop, collect, analyze and transform workforce data using databases, spreadsheets, and queries.
- Translate findings into meaningful visualizations and develop presentations for Business and HR leadership.
- Support technical requirement development and implementation of HR reporting, dashboards and visualizations in Workday.
- Handle data entry, extraction, collection, cleaning, validation, and analysis.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy in all reporting, analysis and integrations; recommend data enrichment practices and perform regular data cleansing of the Workday system.
- Serve as the point of contact for complex issues across applicable Workday modules such as HCM, absence, time tracking, payroll, benefits, and recruiting.
- Act as the point of escalation for system errors or failures while partnering with Payroll, Finance, IT, and/or third‑party vendors to resolve issues.
- Lead Workday updates, including review of system release notes, testing, and rollout of releases.
- Support technical requirement development of HR processes and Workday full‑cycle implementations, including new modules, mergers and acquisitions, divestment, reorganization, or restructuring.
- Assist with change management, communication, training development and execution.
- Support HR process harmonization and improvement initiatives.
- Document system Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Assist with SOX/Audit compliance deliverables in conjunction with internal and external auditors.
- Support day‑to‑day execution of work, including management of the HRIS ticketing inbox.
Qualifications And Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Four (4) years of current work experience in HCM systems, workforce reporting, and HR operations.
- Two (2) years of Workday full‑cycle system implementation experience.
- Technical knowledge and configuration experience with Workday Recruitment, Absence, and Time Tracking modules.
- Experience with Workday Payroll and Integration is an asset.
- Experience using Workday’s Report Writer, Worksheets, and Discovery Board.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (IF statements, nested formulas, VLOOKUP, COUNTIF, pivot tables, macros).
- Strong analytical skills for workforce reporting—create, analyze, and interpret HR metrics.
- Basic understanding of various HR functional concepts and processes.
- Basic understanding of local and global employment standards and requirements.
- Technical mindset—integrating business needs with HR technology solutions.
- Demonstrable ability to maintain and preserve strict confidentiality.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize, multi‑task, and work extended hours to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently in a global, cross‑regional, and cross‑functional capacity.
- Attention to detail in managing multiple programs and projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
- Proposes solutions and consistently follows through to solve complex problems in a busy environment.
Compensation
The expected annual base salary range for this role is CAD $60,000 – $90,000. The final offer will be determined based on your skills, experience, education, market benchmarks, and internal equity.
