About the Company: Our client, a well-established and reputable law firm located in the heart of Toronto, is seeking an Litigation Law Clerk to join their team. Responsibilities : Organize and maintain client files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date. Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, affidavits, discovery documents, and settlement offers. File documents with the court and handle other procedural matters related to litigation, including scheduling and preparing court attendance and motions. Prepare correspondence to clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders in the litigation process. Assist with the discovery process, including organizing and reviewing documents, preparing for examinations for discovery, and compiling evidence. Track critical deadlines and maintain the calendar for various proceedings and hearings, ensuring timely completion of all tasks. Communicate directly with clients to provide case updates and gather necessary information.
Conduct legal research related to insurance defence issues, regulations, and case law as needed. Provide administrative and legal support to the insurance defence lawyers on various matters. Requirements: 3+ years of experience in Municipal Litigation or Insurance Defence. A post-secondary diploma in Paralegal or Law Clerk Studies or equivalent. In-depth knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure, relevant legislation, and insurance defence law. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High attention to detail and accuracy. Compensation: Competitive salary up to $75,000, commensurate with experience.
